OF PRODUCING AND MARKETING LANDSCAPE PLANTS
WORK PLANNED FOR NEXT YEAR
Marketing surveys on garden center service quality will be conducted in the spring of 1997, with cooperation between Alabama, North Carolina, New Jersey, Texas, and Georgia. This study was funded at a level of $10,000 by the Horticultural Research Institute. All cooperating states are members of the S-103 committee. Work continues on the investigating the interface between landscape architects and landscape plant producers. The S-103 committee continues to use innovative communication routes to communicate with clientele. Its World Wide Web Page (hortwww-2.ag.ohio-state.edu/s103) has been a highly effective tool to publish results. Both short reports to assist garden center mangers and owners and information from the 1994 national survey on trade flows and marketing practices within the United States nursery industry are currently available over the WWW.
Statement of Accomplishments
As federal government collection and analysis of primary data decreases, other institutions must provide this valuable service. This cooperative committee of horticultural and agricultural economic researchers from twenty states has continued to provide a five year snapshot of the trade flows and marketing practices of the United States nursery industry.
